Learn More About the Science Inside CollabRx Therapy Finders
The Molecular Disease Models and Targeted Therapy Finders (collectively the "Site") are created and operated by CollabRx, Inc. ("CollabRx"). It is our goal to build trust with and among participants in our user community. This policy document (the "Policy") outlines the type of information we collect from users of the Site ("Users") and how it is used, or shared with other parties. We reserve the right to modify this Policy at any time, and without prior notice. We encourage you to review the Policy periodically for any updates.
In the course of using the Site, Users may be asked to provide certain information regarding themselves, such as name, email address, mailing address, and password ("User Information").
The Site may also periodically ask Users to complete surveys about their experiences (including questions about products and services) for research purposes and/or on behalf of third parties with which CollabRx works closely, including researchers, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and insurance companies ("Partners"). You are free to respond or not. Your participation in these surveys is not required, and your refusal to do so will not impact your experience on the Site.
As is commonplace, the Site routinely collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how CollabRx’s visitors use its service. From time to time, CollabRx may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its Site.
In the same circumstances, the Site also may also collect potentially personally-identifying information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and Cookies (see below). CollabRx does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information for its Service, as described below.
A browser cookie is a package of information that a web server stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the web server each time the visitor returns. Another technology called Flash Objects (FOs) performs the same function but is handled by the browser differently from cookies. The Site uses cookies and FOs to help identify and track visitors, perform secuity functions, monitor usage of the Site, and User's website access preferences.
To create the best possible tools, research and functionality for Users, the Site may use personally identifiable information internally as needed. The Site may use personally identifiable information to fulfill any request you make or otherwise as directed by you (e.g. in the course of providing our service). When necessary, we may also provide your personally identifiable information to approved vendors for their use in assisting us with the maintenance and operation of the Site (e.g. customer service email software/service or email newsletter delivery software/service).
Our staff and Partners (pursuant to written agreements designed to limit the use and disclosure of your personally identifiable information), will be able to view your Profile Data. Additionally, so that others can learn from your experiences, your Profile Data will be aggregated and made available to other parties. For example, we may report the number of patients trying a particular treatment or the number of patients experiencing a particular symptom.
CollabRX and its Partners are interested in better understanding the experience of living with chronic conditions and improving treatment options and health outcomes for everyone. In addition to serving the individual needs of our Users, CollabRx provides information to Partners and other third parties, including for use in scientific research and market research. CollabRx removes pieces of personally identifiable information that can reasonably be used to identify you (i.e. "de-identifies" your data) prior to sharing information with third parties. CollabRx shares such de-identified data that relates to you, in some cases as part of individual records and in other cases in aggregate form, with third parties. For example, we may look at scientific questions such as, "Do certain treatments work better for some types of people versus others?"
CollabRx may report adverse event and drug safety information to the FDA, CDC, and/or other regulatory bodies (both US and internationally) as well as directly to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. We do not provide personally identifiable information including names, emails, or addresses, although CollabRx reserves the right to contact members for follow-up at the request of agencies or Partners. The information we report includes, but is not limited to, all of the information about the member and/or free text or images on the forums or evaluations. In addition, certain areas within our Site are provided with the support of Partners. These Partners may have adverse event reporting requirements that relate to regulated products that are used by members of our communities, and CollabRx assists such Partners with reporting adverse events to regulatory agencies.
In the future, we may provide an opt-in service to allow our Partners (including but not limited to pharmaceutical companies, medical devices companies, non-profits, and research institutions) to directly communicate with Users through our system.
Finally, you should know that CollabRx takes commercially reasonable technical precautions to help keep the Site's data secure.
If you are reading this Privacy Policy because you have access to the personal information of others and are using the Site on their behalf, we urge you to recognize and fulfill your responsibility to protect the privacy of that person.
