Advances in our understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving melanoma have uncovered mutations (e.g. V600E mutation in BRAF) whose effects can be reduced by targeted therapies (e.g. BRAF inhibitors). Testing individual tumors for such mutations may help select relevant therapies. The following laboratories offer testing for the BRAF V600E mutation that could identify patients likely to benefit from treatment with drugs such as Zelboraf and GSK2118436.
