The KRAS gene may be mutated in up to 30% of lung cancer patients with adenocarcinoma histology. It is more frequently observed in patients with a smoking history. Patients with KRAS mutations may be effectively treated with medications that block some of the cellular processes that lead to cancer when the KRAS gene is mutated (e.g. MEK and mTOR inhibitors). The laboratories listed below offer testing for mutations in the KRAS gene.
