Between 4% and 5% of lung cancer patients with adenocarcinoma histology have a genetic abnormality called the 'EML4-ALK gene fusion'. Patients with the EML4-ALK mutation can be effectively treated with medications that block ALK function, such as the recently approved Xalkori. The laboratories listed below offer testing for the EML4-ALK gene fusion.
