Colon Cancer Genome Analysis Reveals New Targets

Work appearing in the July 19th issue of Nature reports a comprehensive genomic analysis of colon and rectal cancer, combining data from 276 tumor samples. Involving more than 150 researchers at dozens of institutions, the analysis found new markers for aggressive tumors, along with uncovering an important role for the regulator gene MYC. The team also identified copy number variation in two genes that could be potential drug targets.
