Thomas R. Mika, MBA, CEO
In addition to his role as CEO of CollabRx, Thomas R. Mika is the Chairman of the Board of Rennova Health, Inc., the parent company, that merged with CollabRx in November 2015. At the time of the merger, Mr. Mika had been the Chairman, President and CEO of CollabRx and its predecessor company, Tegal Corporation, since 2005. In July of 2012, Tegal acquired the private company CollabRx, adopting its name and mission. CollabRx (and Tegal) had been on the NASDAQ since its IPO in 1995. Following a long service on the Board of Directors of Tegal beginning in 1992, Mr. Mika was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2002. Mr. Mika began his association with Tegal in 1990, when he served as consultant to Nazem & Company, a venture firm that acquired the company from Motorola in 1990. Previously, Mr. Mika co-founded IMTEC, a boutique investment and consulting firm whose areas of focus included health care, pharmaceuticals, media and information technology. As a partner of IMTEC, Mr. Mika served clients in the U.S., Europe and Japan over a period of 20 years, taking on the role of CEO in several ventures. Earlier in his career, Mika was a managing consultant with Cresap, McCormick & Paget and a policy analyst for the National Science Foundation, where he was a member of the initial three-person team that developed and published the landmark Science Indicators, the biennial report of the National Science Board to the President of the United States. Mr. Mika holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
George D. Lundberg, MD, Editor-In-Chief, Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board, & Chief Medical Officer
In addition to serving as Editor-In-Chief for CollabRx, Dr. Lundberg is President and Chair of the Board of Directors of The Lundberg Institute, a Consulting Professor at Stanford University, and Editor at Large for Medscape from WebMD. Dr. Lundberg has more than 30 years combined experience as Editor in Chief of JAMA (The Journal of the American Medical Association), the 10 AMA specialty journals, AM News, Medscape, The Medscape Journal, e-Medicine from Web MD, and MedPage Today from Everyday Health. A frequent lecturer, radio and television guest, and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, the Industry Standard dubbed Dr. Lundberg “Online Healthcare’s Medicine Man” in 2000. Prior to CollabRx, Dr. Lundberg served as the President of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, Professor of Pathology and Associate Director of Laboratories at the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center for 10 years, and for 5 years was the Professor and Chair of Pathology at the University of California, Davis. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, leaving as a lieutenant colonel after 11 years. Prior to his military service , Dr. Lundberg completed a clinical internship in Hawaii and a pathology residency in San Antonio. Called the medical Internet “pioneer” in 1995, Dr. Lundberg holds earned and honorary degrees from North Park College, Baylor University, the University of Alabama (Birmingham and Tuscaloosa), the State University of New York, Syracuse, Thomas Jefferson University and the Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Lundberg has worked in tropical medicine in Central America and Forensic Medicine in New York, Sweden, and England. His major professional interests are toxicology, violence, communication, physician behavior, patient safety, and health system reform.
Clifford Baron, Chief Operating Officer
Clifford Baron has led product development, strategy and go to market efforts in prominent life science companies for over 20 years. Prior to joining CollabRX, he was Director of Biology Product Marketing, Director of Business Development and Director of Professional Services at Accelrys. He founded Lexigraphix, developing an innovative web-based system to analyze biotechnology intellectual property assets. Prior to that, Clifford was Senior Director of Global Solutions for Applied Biosystems, where he led software product management and coordinated Applied Biosystems’ alliance with Celera during the human genome project. He was Director of Product Management at Pangea Systems/Doubletwist, a pioneering bioinformatics company, and Vice President of Product Development for Abacus Concepts, a statistical software company acquired by SAS Corp. Clifford holds a Ph.D. in Biology from UC Berkeley.
Smruti Vidwans, PhD, Chief Science Officer
Dr. Smruti Vidwans is an award-winning researcher and biomedical industry expert who has developed strategies for organizations ranging from pharma giants to drug-discovery startups and nonprofits. At CollabRx, she has driven the development of the molecular disease models, the proprietary Therapy Finder applications in cancers such as melanoma, lung cancer and colorectal cancer as well as the Genetic Variant Annotation product that provides therapeutic interpretation of NGS-derived molecular data. Prior to CollabRx, she was at McKinsey and Company where she worked on a developing a range of business and scientific solutions for the pharmaceutical industry – including clinical trial design and evaluation, R&D process optimization, business strategy implementation, and change management. She has co-founded and consulted with several drug discovery startups. In addition, she has worked in the Tuberculosis drug discovery space for which she was named one of the top 100 young investigators under 35. Dr. Smruti Vidwans holds a SB in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a PhD in Genetics, Developmental and Molecular Biology from the University of California, San Francisco.
Adrienne Craig-Kennard, MBA, VP Global Business Development & Strategic Alliances
Adrienne Craig-Kennard has over 15 years of international experience in executive leadership, business development, and research in the healthcare industry. She is dedicated to transforming patient diagnosis and treatment by bringing innovative technologies to the life science community. Prior to joining CollabRx, Ms. Craig Kennard was Vice President of Global Clinical Informatics Sales at Strand Life Sciences. She led global go-to-market strategy and sales of Strand’s NGS-based clinical diagnostics solutions to hospitals and healthcare systems. She also served as Vice President, European Sales at Ariana Pharma, where she led sales of the company’s clinical and biomarker data analytics services to pharmaceutical, diagnostics and healthcare organizations across Europe. Previously, Ms. Craig-Kennard was Chief Operating Officer of two genomics companies, Genostar and NyxBio. She developed strategies that resulted in growth across multiple market sectors, led business operations and sales, and negotiated and managed key industrial and academic partnerships. Earlier in her career, she held research and development roles at Abbott Laboratories, Wesley Jessen, and Chevron Chemical. Ms. Craig-Kennard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration with honors from the Grenoble École de Management’s Grenoble Graduate School of Business.
Paul Clegg, Director of Engineering
Paul is a Silicon Valley startup veteran of 20 years, helping several small companies to develop their software and grow to acquisition by Cisco, Yahoo, Ask.com, Computer Sciences Corporation, and others. At CollabRx, he has helped lead the development team to get the product ready for commercial success, implementing production-quality availability, job automation, and data security. He leads the efforts to hire top-notch software talent while still contributing regularly to keep our systems running smoothly. Paul holds a BS in Computer Science from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York.
